Mr. Willie Wiley Rhodes was born in Brenham, Texas on February 3, 1925 to the parents of Jessie Rhodes and Thelma Toliver, who are both deceased. Two siblings also precedes him in death, Annie Lee Rhodes Scott and Julia Mae Rhodes.
Willie’s primary and secondary education was received in Brenham, Texas. After graduation from high school, he attended and earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Science from Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. He was also an active participant in the Huston Tillotson Alumni. He also earned degrees in Business Administration and Education.
Willie was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas. He was an educator in the Houston Independent School District. He was also a banker at Houston Bank and Trust. He held various positions in his teaching career and his business administration endeavors.
He was a devoted brother and member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for many years. He was also a devoted member of the New Pleaseant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3221 Bain Street, Houston, Texas 77026. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen R. Rhodes; and family members and friends who will always cherish his memory.
