Brother Hall L. Dansby

Funeral services for Hall Langston Dansby of 5028 Ave. M will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wesley Tabernacle United Methodist Church, the Rev. L. V. Winfield officiating.
Burial will be in Mainland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Strode-Armstrong Mortuary.
Mr. Dansby died Tuesday at his residence. He was born in Glenflawn, Tex. And had been a resident of Galveston for the past 48 years. He was a chemistry instructor at Central High School for 41 years and also taught at Wiley College, Prairie View A&M College, Grambling College and O’Connell High School.
He received his B.S. Degree from Wiley College, M.A. Degree from Columbia University and did post-graduate work at the University of Michigan and additional study toward a doctorial degree at the University of South California and the University of Washington.
He was active in various civic and fraternal organizations such as the Galveston Health Board, the Boy Scouts, the Central High School PTA, the NAACP, the Retired Teachers Association and the Classroom Teachers Association.
He was a member of Delta Kappa, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, South Gate Lodge No. 32 AF&AM and the National Teachers Association.
A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and visitors may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Cornelia Dansby; three brothers, Bruce Dansby of Corpus Christi, Brooks Dansby of Glenflawn and Frazier Dansby of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Williams, Mrs. Lottie Carter and Mrs. Melva Punch of Glenflawn; a foster son, Garfield Kidd of San Antonio; two goddaughters, Mrs. Valarie Barbedeaux of Galveston and Mrs. Verlita Byrd of Seattle, Wash.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Alpha Phi Alpha Scholarship Fund.
Pallbearers will be members of South Gate Lodge No. 32 AF&AM.
