Brother Brooks was inducted into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Inc., Gamma Pi Lambda chapter in Galveston, Texas on November 13 2021. He is originally from Fort Worth Tx, and his family is regarded as community leaders in the historically African American neighborhood of Lake Como Texas, located on the West Side of Fort Worth. His interest in community service was piqued at a young age while attending Abundant Life Community Church, which resulted in his participation in various events including community cleanups, feeding the homeless and tutoring. Jared graduated from Crowley High School in 2010 and began attending Texas Southern University In 2016, where he pursued and ultimately obtained a Bachelor’s degree in History. As a student at TSU, He was actively involved on campus and in the third ward community. During his tenure as an undergraduate student, Jared served as the Juvenile Justice chair for the NAACP student chapter. In this capacity, Jared conducted several panels and awareness seminars regarding the School to Prison Pipeline phenomenon. In addition, He volunteered for the Harris County Juvenile Justice department as a mentor to recently detained youths. After graduating from TSU at the conclusion of the Spring 2020 semester, Jared decided to enter into the educational field, and currently works as a History teacher at Hartman Middle School in HISD. He is currently enrolled in the English graduate program at TSU, and after obtaining his Master’s degree in African American Literature, Jared will be attending Law school at the outset of the Fall 2022 semester with the intention of becoming a Civil Rights attorney.
