Frederick Ferguson

Frederick Ferguson was born in Galveston, Texas. He was educated in the Galveston Independent School District and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1965.  He went on to further his education by attending Prairie View A & M  College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1970.

Following graduation from Prairie View, he began teaching and coaching in the Galveston Independent School District in 1970-74. In 1972 Frederick was inducted into the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Gamma Pi Lambda Chapter in Galveston, Texas.

In 1974 Frederick accepted a position with the Galveston County Juvenile Justice Department as a casework supervisor, where he successfully retired in 2005.

Some of Frederick’s affiliations include, member of Texas Probation Association, Texas Teacher’s Association, GISD Truancy Reduction Committee.  He served on the Board of Directors for Communities and Schools, and was Team Leader of a United  Way Campaign.  He was named Alpha Man of the Year in 2000, and was inducted into the Prairie View Interscholastic League of Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2014 (Baseball).  Most recently , in April of 2017 he was presented the Blue Trailblazer Award by the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Alpha Tau Zeta Chapter.

He has served as the Vice-President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Gamma Pi Lambda Chapter, and is currently serving as the chapter’s corresponding secretary.

Frederick enjoys traveling with his wife Linda and interacting with youth.  He is a member of West Point Missionary Baptist Church serving on the Usher Board and is a member of the Male Chorus Choir.
