Elworth “James” Wilcox was inducted into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at Lamar University (Epsilon Rho Chapter-Beaumont, Texas) in the Fall Semester of 1968. After three years at Lamar University he was accepted into the School of Allied Health Science at the University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston). In 1970, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Texas in Medical Laboratory Technology . He was later certified as a Registered Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
Following graduation he worked as a Registered Medical Technologist at the United States Public Health Service Hospital (Galveston), St. Mary’s Hospital (Galveston), and the University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston).
James is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and present Treasurer of local chapter- Gamma Pi Lambda (Galveston, Texas) .
