73rd Annual Alpha Phi Alpha Southwestern Regional Convention – Houston

Dear Brothers of the Southwestern Region:

This is the official convention call for you to attend the 73 rd Annual Southwestern Regional Convention. General President Dr. Everett Ward has urged all Alpha Men to be active in the movement of change, with his beacon call of the “Urgency of Now” . Our convention will build upon this message of activism as we leave our mark in the “Lone Star State”. The theme for the 73 rd Annual convention is:

Moving Forward: Alpha Advocacy in Action. It is my hope that following your attendance at the convention, you will be inspired to return to your communities and do more.

At the 2018 Fall Retreat, the Southwestern Regional Priorities were introduced and they will serve as the focus our convention training offers. The regional priorities are as follows:

• Priority #1- Ensuring our health safety and wellbeing
• Priority #2- Expanding educational opportunities
• Priority #3- Transforming outcomes and increasing organizational efficiency
• Priority #4- Cultivating talent and brotherhood

The 73 rd Annual Southwestern Regional will be held April 4 – 7, 2019, in Houston, Texas. The host hotel will be the Hyatt Hotel in Downtown Houston. All business meetings and meal functions will occur at the Hyatt. The room rates for the convention are $139 per night with free internet and convenient covered parking near the hotel.

The various early bird registrations begin October 1, 2018, and will run through December 31, 2018, followed by regular and late registration options. We are honored to offer our “50 year Brothers a flat registration rate throughout the various registration periods. Registration will end on March 31, 2019, with no onsite registration option.
