Ennis Emanuel Williams, Jr. of Galveston, Texas passed away surrounded by family on July 3, 2013.
Ennis was born on January 11, 1945 to Ruby Rantrope and Ennis Emanuel Williams, Sr. in Galveston, Texas. He was baptized at the age of nine at West Point Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. J.L. Sargeant. He served as a deacon at Shiloh AME Church, and later joined his wife and family at Avenue L Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon, trustee, and on the finance committee.
He started his teaching career at Sam Houston Middle School in math and science and advanced to Assistant Principal at Weis Middle School and later Ball High School. He was an active member of the community, serving in many organizations, including Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Galveston Historical Foundation and the Old Central Cultural Center.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ruby Williams, his father Ennis Williams, Sr., and his sister Cora Lou Gonzales.
He leaves a legacy of love with his loving wife, Maggie Singleton Williams; his children, Ennis Guy Williams, Elicia Elaine Williams-King (Richard), Eugene Emanuel Williams (Vivian), and Janice Parker (Vincent); niece, Ruby Faye Britton; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
